Ex-mortician Louise Pachella approached me about a cover illustration for her book ‘Embalming for Amateurs’ – a fun project that aims to explain in accessible terms exactly what happens when you die (at least physically).

Our goal here was to avoid anything too gruesome or cliched – no hearses or toe tags, please! The aim was professional, informative, trustworthy, and maybe juuuust a little bit spooky.
